The new Green Bay Police Department horse team was “practicing” being in public at the market last week. And, they may come back to the Market on Military as the new team is in training for a unique method of policing in our community.
According to a Green Bay Press Gazette article (Sept. 6, 2016), Police Chief Andrew Smith said “I guarantee people are going to come out of their houses, they’re going to come up and want to pet the horse and want to shake hands and talk to the officers,” Smith said. “It’s a great way to break the ice with the community.”
If the program is successful, they could become a permanent part of the department next year. So far, it’s a winner for the shoppers at our Market on Military.
