Welcome Zach Szymik, the new owner of 712 S Military Avenue.
It may be a strange time to open a business but car repair never stops. (dang it!) In fact, this could be the perfect time to get that work done that you have been putting off. You’re driving less and have more time to focus on maintenance.
Zach took over the former Naniot’s Auto Service after Bob retired in March 2020. He is no stranger to the automobile business. He also owns a car lot and auto repair on the east side of Green Bay.
The ole’ guys are still in the shop on Military and waiting for you to stop by. A new phone number may have confused a few people. Try 920-857-1008 to set up an appointment! Zach also plans a face lift for the shop.
As we all work to conform to our new norm of social distancing and “Safer at Home” orders, food is one thing we all still need. Military Avenue is a great location to find food. Take home and make it, or get it to-go, we have many options.
Click on the Business name below to link to their Facebook page. Businesses, restaurants, and the markets are still offering an abundance of food for you! As we all take precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, click their link, call ahead, or drive by to find out the details of service for each business.
This is a list of businesses with food that are open on Military Avenue! 4/20/2020.

The businesses, offices and restaurants on Military Avenue want you to know that they are open for business!
We will continue to offer the great services you have come to expect, just in a new way.
In an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, we have taken extra measures to clean, practice social distancing, limit the number of people gathering, and still offer you the things you want and need. In fact, we hope that you will continue to shop at our many service, retail, office, and restaurants while we work through this uncertain time. We are working together for the good of all.
Wisconsin Governor Evers, along with many other States, have issued Emergency Orders that give us direction for the best ways to slow the spread of Corona Virus and flatten the curve of cases that could otherwise overwhelm our health systems. Here is a link to his Emergency Order #5 Prohibiting Mass Gatherings of 10 People or More.
Based on the State guidelines, businesses are practicing social distancing. This is a recommendation of staying 6 feet away from others and avoiding contact. Avoid hand shakes or people that are sick or sneezing.
If you are in the high-risk group, you need to be extra careful. Most of our businesses will come to your car, find a delivery option, or instruct you how to work with them on-line or over the phone. There really are many options for still getting the things you need. Even Alderman John Vander Leest, has offered to help out where needed.
All restaurants must only offer take out food as to not subject a group of more than 10 to gather. They will be very accommodating to your needs as we all want this to work for everyone. Drive-up, pick-up, delivery to your home, are options at most of the Military Avenue restaurants. Hours have been shortened for some, so call ahead.
The Winter Market on Military is looking at a call or email order system for your products. If you need some of your regular market items, email us at Director@MilitaryAve.org or call 920-544-9503 to place an order. The details are still being worked out for a drive-through market pick up.
The main point is that we are working together for the good of all, and we want to make sure you can relax and know that someone is here to help you get the services and supplies that you need. Look out for your friends and neighbors and always play it safe!

The PlaGrnd urban clothing store is one of the first in the area.
Located at 1489 W Mason Street in the Green Bay Plaza and on-line
Are you looking for something unique? PlaGrnd has premium clothing at great prices. It will be hard to chose from the fun designs and colors.
PlaGrnd is a colorful clothing store that recently opened a location in the Green Bay Plaza and also has an online store.
They carry a variety of high quality, boutique clothing for men and boys. The street-ware styles are popular with the young urbanites and cutting edge, fashion conscience people. The store owner, Synika, plans to add to the collection as he gets more established.
“No other store carries these jeans.” Synika said, referring to the distressed, dyed, and funked up denim. Jeans run from $65 to $125, which is a steal for this style. If you talk to him, he can make a deal with you to get a complete new wardrobe. He is very knowledgeable about what is available and can customize it just for you.
PlaGrnd also has local art for sale. Prints, originals and stickers by local artists are part of the decor and the merchandise. Even some of the clothing is designed by local clothing designers.
They are currently open from 11-8 PM at 1489 W Mason, near Papa Murphys. Stop by to see them! Plagrndclothing.com
New location – Golrusk Pet Care Center 1330 S Military Avenue, Green Bay
Join us in welcoming Golrusk Pet Care Center to our Military Avenue Business District this Saturday, Feb. 8th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Honorable Mayor Genrich will be cutting the ribbon with the owners Tera and Troy Fox at 9:30 AM.
This is the fourth location for the 45 year old, family owned company. The Military Avenue location will feature two large play rooms, one for the big dogs and one for small dogs. Grooming services are also offered. The Fun Camp for Dogs will be held in this new location where “Pets are Family”.
Bring your pet, with proof of shots, on a lead or comfy crate, to the open house and participate in the free nail trimming or behavioral assessment for potential Fun Camp for Dogs attendance. You can purchase a treat from the pet bake sale. Proceeds from the bake sale will benefit the Green Bay Campus of the Wisconsin Humane Society.
Kids are welcome, too! Free pet and valentines crafts plus fun games for the kids will be available. Grab a goodie bag for your pet while they last.
Each year our Board of Directors does an operating plan that outlines our goals for the year. This year of 2020 we hope to identify a brand to fit our flavor and add public amenities in that style to aid pedestrians and drivers shopping, working, or visiting here.
Public Amenities – A bench, a garbage can, public art pieces, landscaping, signage, bike stands … it’s yet to be identified. A strategic planning exercise might bring our business members closer to laying out a doable plan.
No place to wait at this bus stop.
Or here.
Food Hall – We are looking for participants or investors interested in a “food hall”. That is a food court with real, restaurateurs. It’s a place for a new restaurant or baker or food processor to start out with a smaller financial commitment. It is also a one-stop-shop for customers to have a variety of food choices. Not unlike what we are doing with our Pop-Up Ready store fronts. This food hall concept would be an incubator for foodies. In addition to the local foodie people, we would feature our farmers market growers, producers and crafters, too. A local, real food market, so to speak.
New Development – Most likely, the large boxes left from Shopko and Sears will become something other than a single retail entity. As retail shopping patterns change, so will the layout of such shopping structures. If you look at the land from above, there are some great opportunities to improve the use of the space and add needed retail, service, office, residential, or restaurants that will be sustainable.
I personally like mixed use plans where people can live and thrive in a walk-able district. That means that you can also park your car and walk to a shop and a restaurant or a service in a short distance. Since all of our district is privately owned, we can only help the owners identify the wants and needs for a successful investment in their property and our district.
How do YOU add your thoughts? Please send us an email at director@militaryave.org. Here are some thoughts for you to consider:
What would make it easier for you to get around our Military Avenue district?
What do you see as a need or luxury in our district?
Is there any particular style you like that says “this is Military Avenue”?
Are there certain stores or services you would like to see here?
Is it easy to get here and find us?
Thanks for any feedback. We plan to share it with our property owners and stake holders!
Quan (Ryan) and Vivian accepted their award for Sense Spa at the Green Bay Mayor’s 2019 Beautification Awards celebration on Dec. 5 at Back Stage at the Meyer.
The Mayor’s Beautification Awards Committee works with the Mayor to chose the recipients of this honorable award. The Committee is made up of a group of volunteers dedicated to recognizing businesses, organizations and individuals who enhance and preserve the beauty and cleanliness of the City of Green Bay.
Quan brought part of his culture into the design at the former auto repair garage that has been transformed it into a spectacular, relaxing spa and tea house. He hopes that others will do the same and continue to build Green Bay into a thriving, vibrant place for young people to stay and raise a family. After living in many places, he chose Green Bay to build his business and raise his family.
Other winners for 2019 include Brown County STEM Innovation Center, Hotel Northland, Tenet, Amphora Wine Bar, Pepper, GB Skaliwags / The High Cotton Club, Bay Beach Big Wheel, and Green Bay Area Public Schools Baird Elementary.
Military Avenue is lucky to have this amazing spa in our district. You have to stop in, try a Vietnamese coffee or tea, and check out the spa. One of their unique spaces is the salt room. If you have not tried out a salt room, book it for you and a few friends. Amazing.
A fourth location on Military Avenue will house two large pet play areas, one for little pups and one for the big dogs. A grooming station is also in the works.
Golrusk Pet Care Center has a philosophy that “Pets are Family!”
For 45 years the Grosskopf Family and Golrusk Pet Care Center have been an industry leader in pet care for the Green Bay area. In 2012, Ken and Jan’s daughter Tera and her family took over the Golrusk Pet Care Center family business and just opened this beautiful west side play area.
Call them to schedule a visit! Your pet will thank you!
The Green Bay Police K9 unit talked to market goers at the August 15th special Dog Days of Summer event at the Market on Military.
It was a great thrill to see both Drago and Pyro preform with their handlers and some were especially excited to see Pyro. After being stabbed by a bad guy this spring, Pyro looked great and there was no sign that his wounds slowed him down.
Pyro and Officer Salzmann – playing with his training toy
Pyro is a Belgian Malinois that was born in the Netherlands. His handler is Officer Scott Salzmann. Pyro lives with Officer Salzmann and his family when he is not working for the Green Bay Police Department.
Drago and Officer Brann – at ease
Drago is a Belgian Malinois/German Shephard that was born in Hungary. His handler is Officer Jeff Brann and Drago lives with Officer Brann and his family when he is not on the job.
Both dogs are trained in suspect apprehension, tracking and narcotics detection. Pyro also has experience and training in handler protection and article searches.
Drago waits for instructions
Pyro bites at suspect, giving the officer time to take him down.
